Early Rank Requirements: First Aid

The following vignettes correspond to various first aid requirements wherein the Scout is directed to show or demonstrate a specific first aid skill:

• Show first aid for blisters on the hand and foot. (from Tenderfoot 4a.)

• Demonstrate first aid for serious burns. (from Second Class 6a.)

• Show how to transport a person from a smoke-filled room. (from First Class 7b.)

• Show how to transport for at least 25 yards a person with a sprained ankle. (from First Class 7b.)

• Demonstrate bandages for a sprained ankle and for injuries on the head, upper arm, and the collarbone. (First Class 7a.)

• Demonstrate first aid for puncture wounds from a splinter, nail, and fishhook. (from Second Class 6a.)

• Show first aid for a venomous snakebite. (from Tenderfoot 4a.)

• Demonstrate first aid for shock. (from Second Class 6a.)

• Demonstrate first aid for an object in the eye. (from Second Class 6a.)

• Demonstrate first aid for hyperventilation. (from Second Class 6a.)

• Show first aid for bites and stings of insects and ticks. (from Tenderfoot 4a.)

• Demonstrate first aid for hypothermia. (from Second Class 6a.)
